Well here it is. The picture is not particularly good, but you can at least see what we're taking.
Top left 1990 Nikon ED's 8X40 porro's. Flatest view I've ever seen.
Remington 700 CDL .30-06 with Vari XIII 3.5X10
Below right VXII 3.x9 in Leupold QRW mounts and ready to be swapped on the .30-06
Below right again Minox 8.5X42 BDBL (2002).
Sako Mannlicher .375 with 2.5X8 Leupold in Optilock mounts
Model 71 with Williams peep
To bottom right of 71 Canon video camera and Panasonic Lumix with Leica lens
Sako AV hunter .300Wby with PacNor barrel and Conquest 3.5X10 in Leupold QR Sako mounts

These, along with a couple of knives and tools will all fit into double rifle cases that Dad and I will bring along. Its quite a bit, but this is what we want to do and will do. Don't get to go with your father and mess around in Africa for 2 weeks very often.

Can't thing of anything I wouldn't give for the chance to spend some adult time with my father.

I'd say enjoy but it's a foregone conclusion.

There's not too many things I can say I'm envious of, but you being able to hunt Africa with your Dad tops them all.

Savor every minute.

Good luck, safe travels, and may God smile upon your journey!

You know, I do have that rig in my safe. My gradad had it and probably never killed s**t with it . After an incredible amount of fooling around, I did kill a decent buck (120class), but, boy, they ain't rifles to be trusted.

Good luck!

I would suggest carying the binos in your carry-on.

BTW, a day pack makes a great carry-on.

Also in my carry-on when I go to Africa:
1, Boots
2, Change of hunting cloths, including socks and undershorts, etc.

So, if your bag no shows or is late, you can still hunt.

Got to do two safaris with my dad before he left for the Happy Hunting Grounds. I cherish the memories. Great fun!

HS, I wish you well on your trip. I have a request. Please post your thoughts about what you took and how much you took following your trip. I have been many times and take less each trip. For example I take a single rifle and usually take an extra scope which is left as a gift. All the africans I meet like the 3x9 Leupold VX2 a lot. Some please give us your post mortem.
