The black pad Rugers I have seen -- including my brand new .264 WM #1B -- all have even blacker, not gray, spacers. (This brings up the question why spacers at all, when the rifles really need more recoil pad than they do the bhard surface?)

But like any mfg there is never going to be a direct cut off on things like this unless it's a safety issue. The last new one I have a record of is a 1-V in 22-250 that was shipped direct to me from the factory, it was # 134-26161 and was shipped 9/2009, it has a very gray spacer. So I would say that sometime in 2009 Ruger started using the gray spacers on # 1's. Anyone have a number higher than 134-26161 that does not have the gray spacer, or one with a gray spacer shipped before 5/2009, the first one I noticed on a # 1 was 5/2009.
