Has anybody got a Savage-imported Valmet Model 333 O/U shotgun that is marked "Skeet"? The markings will be on the left side of the barrel lugs; you need to open the gun to read them.

I have just got one of these and believe that it has had the stock and forearm replaced. They don't look like the wood on my other 333, but it isn't a Skeet model, so I'm not sure if they are original or not.

If you have one of these critters, I'd appreciate an image of the wood, or a catalog image if you have a catalog that shows one, or we could trade PMs or emails to verify the measurements of the real thing and compare them with mine.

Thanks, Romac. That's EXACTLY what I needed. As I had guessed, the present stock is aftermarket, probably Fajen. I need to get a factory stock; the one on it is rather badly fitted. The sad thing is that it is REALLY spectacular wood. Unfortunately that dense burl wood makes an already fairly heavy gun REALLY heavy!

I don't like the stamped checkering either. But what is really wrong with it is that sometimes (especially on 330s) they stamped onto really weak wood grain in the wrist of the buttstock. A setup for a busted wrist.....
