How do you folks deal with it in regards to your pack?
Does everything get waterproof bagged or you folks run pack covers or some of both?

I have not done a lot of back packing but I carry some stuff in waterproof bags and Ziploc bags. I carry a large thick garbage bag to put my gear in at camp. When moving I use a poncho over everything. I can set my pack on the ground, sit on it and cover me,bow and pack for a quick rain cover. I'm certain an ultralight rain suit and pack cover works well also. Ziploc baggies of all sizes can be very useful.
There are no bad days hunting elk, some are just better.

I line my pack with a plastic bag and also carry a sil-nylon pack cover. The two weight just over an ounce.

My gear goes into Sea to Summit LW roll top drybags. Sleeping bag into one roll top, clothing into another. Then I line my single compartment pack with a white Hefty Trash Compactor bag. The compactor bag is long enough to hold the sleeping bag and clothing bag(s), with enough room at the top to twist it and tuck it down between the gear and the pack itself. For stream crossings the liner can be goosenecked/candy-canned with elastic bands, this will float for a long time. My food bag and rain gear go in the top of the pack, since they get wet anyway. I like a pack that has a back pouch to "live" out of. Tarp, snacks, water filter, sundry/1st aid etc live there inside those cheap polyester rolltop dry bags from the Walmart camping section. I also carry and use an orange silnylon pack cover, it is only a few ounces, and a soaking wet pack is a heavier pack so it is worth it's weight.

I use a sil pack cover and keep stuff that needs to be dry in ziploc's or light weight dry bags.
