I'm just about to pull the trigger on one of Doug's Minox MD 50s, but thought I would check if there is something else out there.

Primary use will be an up coming antelope hunt in Wyoming. (hopefully) After that it will be just generall use, most likely sizing up deer, but not trophy class.

I just bought the MD50, just got it a few days ago. Looks great for the $$$ and packability. I bought it based on reviews from this forum.

One that looks interesting, for similar $$$, is the new redfield 60mm scope. Much bigger, and limited reviews, but based on what I read may be the best full size scope you could get for $220.

I don't know if you can find it for $200 but you could find this scope for $250. I have the 80mm version and like it a great deal.

I asked this question before about the Redfield but no one knew much about it at the time...but if you look at the Redfield, it seems identical to the Vortex Nomad in appearance, magnification, FOV and weight. Anyone think it could be the same spotter with just a different name attached?

For those who have the Minox, how is the focus ring? Stiff or easy to turn. Have read that it is very stiff and can upset focus trying to turn.
