Don't remember which site I saw this on, but that doe sure doesn't like dogs, or the cat lol http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=247_1276687648

cool video, poor dog got the crap kicked out of him, but shouldn't have been loose around that deer in the first place. Glad the cat finally got some too after paying her nose. Would have liked to see the wounds on the dog. Been on the receiving end of enough deer to know he'd have some stitching coming his way.

I can understand why the deer did what it did, but fido should be OK walking down the sidewalk in the neighborhood, don't you think? Chalk this one up to "sometimes weird sh++ happens.

In WV, I had a heeler that was trained to NOT chase deer. And I frequently had several browsing in the yard. He ignored them, they ignored him. One day after the does had started bringing their fawns out, Otis, the dog, heard my wife coming up the driveway and went to meet her. Running down the driveway brought him inside of one of the doe's "comfort zone" and she came for him. Big time. She chased him underneath the back porch and stamped her feet and blew around for several minutes (more like seconds)before she rejoined her fawns (she'd had twins).
Aim for the exit hole.

Watching that, the only thing I could think of was That's why you stay the hell away from moose! Had that been a cow moose the poor dog would be dead. Might have died anyway, that doe stomped the snot out of it but good. About the only thing in the woods that does scare me is a cow moose with a calf(s) or a bull that's just in a bad mood. I have wound up way too close to bulls a few times on foot and it is not a fun situation to be in.

A cow elk with a calf is a force to be avoided as well. My grandfather was a logger and always had a dog with him. One day they inadvertantly happend upon a calf and it let out a whimper (for lack of a better term). That cow damn near killed the dog. Dog was broke up real bad and the whole ordeal lasted about half a second.

I just showed that video to my boys. A few weeks ago they were walking a pup with a friend and the lab puppy ran up to a fawn to say hi. (they are all over the place) Momma doe went batshit on the pup! (pup was fine, but learned his lesson) They said the doe chased them out of there.

Well earlier today I was on my land doing some stuff. And well I spotted a Deer and a Fawn (White Tail). But what got my interest was the Coyote on the other side of the clearing. Well to make a long story short, I had my Blaser R-93 and well I checked zero. 150 gr Fusions out of a 7mm RM is a little much for Coyote. I think that Fawn will live a while longer. Its the 7 Coyote I killed since Feb.

I was thinking it looked like an old dog.

the dog allowed the doe to show dominance, as if it was another dog. The doe did not get the memo that laying down and exposing the belly meant no contest.
