From these web-compresssed photos, that 800 seems plenty sharp with good contrast. Should bring you plenty of enjoyment. They all look good.

The camera is a Canon 1D Mark IV and all these shots were taken with either an 800mm/5.6L-IS or 300mm/2.8L-IS
