Brethren: This post is a spleen-vent, a confessional designed to absolve you of the painful guilt for selling a gun you want back. To wit: "Father, forgive me for selling my bedded, trigger-tooled, accurate Remington Classic in 300 H&H. Return it to its rightful owner...me. And, while you are at it, retrieve my old Sweet Sixteen. I didn't know age corresponded with wisdom in guns too! Do some magic." Been there? Fess up. Jump in the booth!
God, grant me the senility to forget the guns I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to know the difference.

I sold a Model 70 in 338 Win Mag once. The gun would shoot 1/2 inch groups...
After a painful month of shame and guilt <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/help.gif" alt="" />, I was able to purchase the gun back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I used it for elk and deer this year.
I can understand your grief.

My dad told me when I was young, "Don't ever sell a rifle unless you hate it. If you do you'll regret it for the rest of your life." It's been good advice so far.

My first wife, I sold a Ruger 77V in 22/250. It was the first gun I ever bought with my own money from my first job. I paid $200 for it, the job earned me $2.95 an hour. The day I bought it, I also bought a Weaver K4 and a box of Frontier ammo. Later, the scope was changed to a Weaver V-9. It is with this rifle that I connected on my longest shot ever on a varmint- a red fox at a paced off 429 yards- to the blood drops. It took me another four rounds and a 1/2 mile chase to claim the animal, and at the end of it, I would up with teeth marks in the buttstock! I was young and dumb, and thought I was king of the world with that rifle. That fox taught me a great deal about shooting and respect for my adversary. I sold the rifle to pay bills- $185. If you see a tang safety Ruger 77V with teeth marks in the butt- It's mine!

Back when I was 15 (1959) I traded a neighbor kid my Nylon66 for an old cap&ball Remington pistol that didn't work. I then traded a Doctor in town that pistol for a Winchester 94 in a fitted leather case that had room for a box of shells and some cleaning rods. I then sold this back to the local gun store for $50 I came out ahead a few $$$, but I sure wish I still had that Winchester.

i sold a Ruger MkII 22 pistol, still kicking myself. the pistol itself wasnt worth much and still isnt but the lil thing was accurate to beat hell with the cheapest ammo i could find.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death. It is much more important than that.

I can feel your pain, boys. I've never sold a gun unless I just absolutely hated it. I guess thats why my safe runneth over. I just can't bring myself to part with one, and hell, they don't eat much so it doesn't cost much to keep one sitting around in the safe.

I've never sold a 'gun' but did sell an action that I wish I had back. The project, just didn't seem worth it, but after Mule Deer's article about th 264 Win I wish I would have went forward with it.

I haven't yet with a rifle, though I did get rid of a Ruger 357 blackhawk 4 5/8", that I traded to a buddy, who sold it to antother friend, who I eventually traded back for it. Unfortunately it still doesn't shoot that well, but I like it, and will keep it and fix it.
I definately agree with sentiment that you shouldn't sell a gun that you don't hate, as you will regret it.

A Kimber 84M in .308. It was one of the early ones (red butt pad). After having Kimber replace the barrel, it started to shoot as I had anticipated.
So what did I do with this little beauty? Yep. Sold it!! To a more appreciative owner who will not sell it back! At least he knows a good thing when he sees it.
