The piece of grilled loin I had at the Texas Game Wardens Assoc. banquet years ago was like good veal.

I understand it has the highest bacteria count of all wild meat and thus must be well cooked. Have never tasted it but understand it is good.

I have only seen 4 in the woods, I'm in awe every time. They are beautiful Cats.

I've seen a roast smoked and a friend made steaks out of one we got 3 or 4 years ago. Supposed to be very good.
We had returned to my hunting partners house after a deer hunt and I spotted it laying under a clump of sage watching our girls play in the yard. That earned him a trip to the freezer.

I don't cook it, but we eat it two or three times each year at potlucks or at dinner at some friends' house.
Our former NRCS Range Conservationist got a lion one year and asked one of our friends how to prepare it. He cooked up a lion casserole and took it to the annual picnic that the NRCS office and Forest Service ranger district put on each year (they shared an office building). Everyone raved about the casserole and one of the women took what was left and put it in the office refrigerator. On the following Monday, a bunch of the women finished it up at lunch. When Ron came in to eat, they raved again about the casserole and asked him how he made it. He said that when he told them, he barely escaped with his scalp!
