shot my 35 remington today, and noticed the lever is now drooping.
i have seen this before on lever actions, so it must be common.
the rifle still shot fine, but how do i fix it ?
i haven't taken it apart yet to see how the action works and how the lever is held in place.
any help ?

The lever is held in the closed position by a spring loaded plunger in the lever. Drop the lever and you will see it. The problem will be either an engagement issue or a weak spring.

I've replaced the spring in a couple of my Marlins to fix the problem.

Lever's drooping on my Marlin, as well- still works fine, just doesn't look as good as it used to. Happens when you're over 60. BTW- How'd you guys know my wife calls it Marlin? 
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....

you ain't right !
got to messin with it yesterday, and found when i tighten the screw holding the butt section on, the lever, "pops" open, or droops.
i loosened the screw and lessened the squeeze and it locks right up. then i start to tighten the screw again and i unlocks again...
hmmmm ??
so i find a small washer and put it in the loser slot in the stock,put the action back in and tighten.
nothing happend, the lever didn't unlock and droop !
so, out it comes again, and sure enough, with a bare recvr, and tightening the rear screw, it seems to be squeezing/torquing the metal enough where the lever catching parts are, and won't allow them to work properly.
so with the washer in place the rear lower of the recvr where the lever rides flush with, now sticks out from the stock.
get a new stock ?
live with it ?
or i may try some marine tex, and bed it just shy of the point where the lever unlocks.
