Those mountain lion pictures are unreal. You guys have some amazing photos. Just tells me one thing - I dont hunt near as much as I thought I did. Gonna need to rectify that situation.

A good old fashion sheep hunt. DIY pack horses, backpacks, Savage 1899 and the rugged high country of Montana. By far my greatest trophy experience.

Great Pictures everyone Not the best pic, but my most memorable whitetail. Chased him for over a month before we finally crossed paths Guided my step-dad onto this bull a drizzly day a few years back, bulls bugling all around us. Due to health reasons I don't know if he'll get another chance or not at another bull. We ride horses in this area of the black hills every year and have the bones marked on the gps. Every year we go back and check what's left, fewer and fewer each year but it makes a memorable picnic spot.

Nice buck Cal and that story about your Dad and you and the elk are about model perfecto!
How tough is it for you to hunt archery elk in the Hills? Are some of the permits in the Hills for elk once in a life time?
Thx Dober

Artistic My first buck
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.
True fair chase is you in the woods buttnaked with nothing but your finger nails and teeth.
If you'e fixin' to put a hole in something, make it a hole to remember.

Another pic....a sweet friend of our son's. She begged him to take her along hunting and he finally relented. We relaxed our 'quality buck' rules on our property for the first time so she could stand a better chance of success. She got him with one shot from my small ring custom Mauser chambered in 257 Bob. She is more beautiful on the inside than the outside and a heck of a good sport. After a 75 or so yard tracking job in the woods she stood there while we christened her face with blood...not one squeal, no tears, etc. What a killer smile! Full time college student and model....how 'bout that?
You only live once, but...if you do it right, once is enough.

Probably one of these two. My son's first bull.7-08 at 325 with 120 B-Tip. One shot, swapped ends and dropped.
Broncos are officially the worst team in the nation this year.

My reddest of my red letter days, thus far. Taken after my brother-in-law (and best friend), in the orange, shot his deer (2nd best ever), and before I shot mine the same day, I'm in the green (also my 2nd best ever). His: Mine (the rest of the busted horn was found later, another moment of joy): The suffering and camaraderie involved in staying on the mountain on this hunt, has much to do with its significance to both of us. Not the biggest bucks that there are, but that hunt won't EVER be forgotten.
Empirical results rule!

Certainly not the biggest bull, but the one with the most "story"...Me and my pards have always reffered to him as " The bull from Hell". You know its serious when Ingwe is wearing a dew rag... This was after five miles and 8 hours of tracking him wounded in the nastiest country you can imagine. 3 days, two horses, eleven people, and one trip to the ER later...we got him out... Ingwe
