Hello All,

I'm new here and this is my 1st post...I've enjoyed what I've seen so far!!

I've got a SAKO Finnlite in 06 on order. These require the proprietary SAKO dovetail mounts and rings. I've seen various makers mounts and ring combinations and then saw ringmounts that attach directly to the reciever. I already have a Leupi VX-III 3.5x10 ready to mount so as soon as I get the rifle, I'll need to decide.

What do you all think???

FWIW, I'm about 50-50 with Talley Lwts and DNZ scope mounts on my hunting rigs right now.

+1 on the Dednutz and talleys. One piece construction is simpler, more rugged and eliminates alot of extra parts.

I have Talley Lightweights one piece on my Tikka and they are excellant. The only advanage I see over the Dead Nuts, an excellant product, is they can be mounted either forward or backwards which ever is required to fit the scope space and eye distance. My gun smith told me that one. Buckfever1

I think I'll give Talley a call when the rifle arrives. It has a completely different mounting system than the Tikka or the A7...too bad. For a $1,500 rifle, it has some limits and I sure hope it's worth the money.

I go back and forth on this. I like the Talley LW because of its simplicity, but they are pretty blocky and the rear mount tends to offer very close clearance or no clearance for the rear ocular of my scope. I tend to mount my scopes as far forward as I can get them. Because of this, I've been using Leupold Dual Dovetail mounts and rings. The bases have a low profile and the mounting system is pretty solid. The only trick with these is getting the rings square. I run DD Lows on my M70 and M700 with Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 scopes. When I had a Swarovski AV 3-10x42, I ran medium rings on the M700.

if you are using sako mounts go with the ringmounts. i had a finnlight but after having a hard time finding the sako ringmounts i went with talley's split ring design. your mounting options are limited on that rifle but the talley's worked fine for me. note these are not the one piece lightweights. most of the advice above seems not to consider your particular rifle and the sako dovetail

Thanks all...shortmag...you are correct...the sako receiver is another animal altogether. I'm fine with the Talley's though I was hoping for other options.

I've got a Sako 75 Finnlite with Leupold Ringmounts. They mount directly to the Sako dovetail & have been rock solid in 5 years of use. On my 2 Sako 85 Finnlites, I used Conetrols. A little aggravating to mount, but are rock solid once mounted.

Welcome aboard! I'll toss in another opinion for the Leupold Ringmounts. So far, I have had zero troubles with them on my Sako 85. Mine are in low and hold a Leupold 2x7x33 on top of a 338 federal.

Why thank-you Credit!

BTW...I e-mailed Leupold and they responded that they did NOT make a ringmount to fit my rifle!!! Is there that much difference between a 75 and an 85??

I just bought the DNZ GameReaper mounts and I absolutely love them. They are very strong and really light weight, which is definitely a plus. I highly reccomend them.

I just looked at Leupold's website & they list ringmounts for Sakos under "ordering info" for ringmounts. As far as I know, there is no difference between the dovetail on a 75 and a 85. I have both and will check them tonight. I have the Leupold ringmounts on a 75 and Conetrols on my two 85's. I'm sure someone on the fire has experience with both and will chime in.

Are you sure they make them for a sako dovetail?

Conetrol is the best IMO.
