Another pic....a sweet friend of our son's. She begged him to take her along hunting and he finally relented. We relaxed our 'quality buck' rules on our property for the first time so she could stand a better chance of success. She got him with one shot from my small ring custom Mauser chambered in 257 Bob. She is more beautiful on the inside than the outside and a heck of a good sport. After a 75 or so yard tracking job in the woods she stood there while we christened her face with blood...not one squeal, no tears, etc. What a killer smile! Full time college student and model....how 'bout that? GD57, That is so cool in soooo many ways ! Congrats to the "pretty" good hunter & the butt ugly guides ! Paul.

Certainly not the biggest bull, but the one with the most "story"...Me and my pards have always reffered to him as " The bull from Hell". You know its serious when Ingwe is wearing a dew rag... This was after five miles and 8 hours of tracking him wounded in the nastiest country you can imagine. 3 days, two horses, eleven people, and one trip to the ER later...we got him out... Ingwe Speaking of butt ugly guides !!

This hunt has a lot of great memories attached. Alaskan drop camp. I shot this bull out of the tent after waking up from a dead sleep to see caribou streaming across the lake bed we were camped on. I had hiked miles that morning without seeing a caribou.

I am puzzled on the "shoulder arms" stance though, would a PH most likely have gripped the barrel with the hand, muzzle forward and a rest on the shoulder?

For me this doesnt help at all cause I went 0-9 on the draw this year. I do get to go this year but there will be no blood on the ground because of me. But I also dont have to pay for any hunts so I may have my next custom rifle built this year. Again, truely amazing photos guys.

I've shown this pic before but I think it's my favorite after the kill shot These are close too. This is a different bull from the first And this is not my sheep but one I was a guide for. I thought the elk in the first photo was the worst spot I'd ever seen anything killed in until this ram. Pretty much a drop off right below the ram. As my grandpa would say "you'd starve to death before you hit the bottom."

Fishing, but it's my new favorite as it happened yesterday. My niece on her first ever fishing trip. On the first cast I told her to reel up and she had this fish on using a circle hook and crawdad. We had nonstop action for over an hour before she got tired of reeling them in. She's a pro now and was spoil't her first trip out. Kent

My first two deer from 17 seasons ago. I was in the stand by myself up over the hill about 300 yards from my Dad with a 20ga Remington 1100 with rifle sights and a shortened stock and barrel so I could handle the gun, shooting remington basic slugs. I watched these two bucks spar for a bit at about 40 yards over a doe who was standing directly under me and then shot them both. I was already hooked on hunting from chasing small game with Dad and Uncles, but this sealed the deal and made me obsessed. I remember wearing my Dads hat on the last snap in the back. I was also wearing his wool army surplus pants. I think they were a waist size of about 36 and I could have fit in one leg. Thanks to whoever invented belts and suspenders. I remember he instructed me on how to gut the first one out and helped me drag it to the truck. Then, he sent me back up the hill to gut the second one and drag it back by myself. Luckily it was down hill and the deer pulled me down the hill more than I pulled it. I was pretty darn proud of what I had done as can be seen by my mug. Now I do the tough guy no smile pictures. ;-) If only I would have flopped that leg over, it would have been a really good picture.

Not a very good picture, it was a cheepy throw away because our digital was in the shop.. But it shows exactly where I got this sucker, and what I had to drag him out through. I've always liked it, because it matches my after kill ritual perfectly - I look back towards where the truck is, and mutter "aww.. chit!"
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...
