Got to thinking about this when I took a little walk with my old Ruger Single-Six. I bought that gun with money I earned slapping asbestos mud on boiler room fittings back in 1963. It has been with me since then. It fed me a couple of times, killed a lot of snakes, and chased away a bad guy who broke in to my house in Hawaii one night.
Life has been hard for that old friend and it has undergone several changes. It isn't a pretty blue any more. It now sports a brass Super Blackhawk grip frame and trigger. It's still a three screw, no fancy changes from Ruger.
I guess It has been by my side for 47 years now. Think I will keep it.

30 Years. Winchester model 74 .22 that was assigned to me when I was about 5. Serial number dates it to 1939. Still my favorite gun to shoot.

I have the two model 42's that my dad bought for him and I right around 1957, and I will soon be passing them on down to my son and grandson.

25 years for my T/C Hawkins 50 cal. Shot 18 deer with Hawkeye. We had an understanding you might say, "Brown On The Ground".
25 years with my Marlin Model 60. Best little 22 on the market back then in my opinion.

Winchester model 37 .410, got it when I was 8 and still have it. Colt Cobra .38 I bought in 1961.
Many more have come and gone but these just stuck.

I bought a Browning .22 take down when I turned 18..27 years ago. My Dad just gave me his Dad's MINT Winchester Model 52b Target .22. My Grandfather bought it new in 1940 and shot it at a couple Turkey shoots in Nevada. The gun was last shot 30 years ago,I plan on shooting it before summer is over. The gun weighs around 13 pounds and is bone stock...Perfect condition never altered in any way.
