Trying to find info on my 1899 savage, it has a saddle ring, Tang rear sight, Silver blade front sight,a 20" barrell, and it is a 30-30. any info. would be greatly appreciated, Value is hard to judge on the internet, it is in great shape, but has lost most of its blueing. Should I have it reblued?

go to the savage collectors on here, I like the SRCs per my avator, value, be between 300-700 the way it sounds, they stoped makeing the srcs in 1917, mine are in 303 savage, Id not reblue it as it will kill the collector value, enjoy it the way it is, if you were or are that old you tend to be grey also!

I would need a serial number to give the date of manufacture.

Your gun is simply referred to as the 1899 SRC carbine. it has a straight stock and rounded forarm, with a carbine butt plate and the saddle ring, made in calibers 25-35, 30-30,303,32-40 and 38-55 and was discontinued sometime prior to 1920. It was the only Savage 99 with a saddle ring...

It also came without the saddle ring and was designated the 1899 "Saddle Gun" but had a 22 inch barrel, shotgun butt, and schnabel forearm..

The 1899 series carried on to several more models with various minor changes and designated as "take downs", "Featherweights",
then jumped to the 99A, B, C, D, carbine, E, F (prewar), G (prewar), K, H, on and on...up to the present.

Value will be based mostly on condition..With no blue, but honest wear without pits and with good clean rifleing and functioning it should be worth somewhere around $1200 to $1800 but I would have to inspect it in hand to make a real determination...
