Bought this recently and decided on a different route.
Rifle is in excellent condition, blueing on all metal surfaces is in near perfect condition, still has the original irons with hooded front. Wood is also in great shape with few handling marks, I was told by the previous owner that he had purchased it from the original owner and that he had removed the stocks cheek piece and had refinished it, he did a fine job. Rifle will come with original owners manual. The SN has an "A" prefix

$560 shipped

Here is the rest of the pictures I took this past weekend, if you need a shot of the entire rifle I can, may take a couple days though.
Trades??
I know I'd be asking alot but I'd seriously consider trading this rifle, plus MY wife for one that doesn't bitch at me every day.

Otherwise, I may consider another firearm of similar value or possibly a trade for a quality rifle scope, can add cash as needed. I'm in the market for a Nightforce 8-32 BR scope NP-R2 reticle, a Leupold MK4 on the higher end of XXs or possibly another quality scope. I have no interest in big game rifles as I have that covered, 1911s are a possibility as is a CZ Sporter chambered in 17 Hornet or 22 Hornet.

I'd like to screw a 6x45 MR barrel on that and drop it in an EDGE Compact, olive flavor.

I had a Mohawk in 222 and 243. I bought a BR taper 6mm bbl a BR shooter had, by Ed Shilen mfg. in the 70s or 80s, and ALMOST put a 6x45 or TCU on that action, and chickened out partially because it was a 14 twist. It would make a nice set up. Later had a Bullberry on a TC rifle, 12t and it shot very well and was FUN to shoot, stabilized up to 85s well enough for hunting accuracy. 10 shots in a dime w/my deuce as it was w/H335 and 50gr RP PLHP. My 243 shot nickel sized 5 shot strings.

No doubt the 600s came as true or better in action tolerances, and perhaps bore tolerances vs. today's Rem's IMO, as you always hear they are tack drivers, as were the 788s.

They are / were tackdrivers. I've shot a lot of them and still have quite a few. That's a nice rifle tac. I have a 6MM which is my favorite. I had one of these which was rechambered to .223. It would drive 4d finish nails at 100 yards with bullets 50 grains and below. 55 grains shot ok. Anything heavier would keyhole and heavyweights would not hit the paper at times. It taught me a great lesson about twist and velocity. In this original chambering, it will be very accurate and not have any problems. You should sell this one cause it would make someone a great varmint (or Texas deer) rifle. The .222 is a GREAT round. Thankfully, I don't have a wife to trade you.
