Just curious, I catch specks, bream and small bass down here with them. Didnt know if trout would hit them or not. The Beetle Spins got to be my number one lure for catching sheer numbers of fish. Pod, I would think drifting unweighted / lightly weighted earthworms on light spin gear should also produce. Paul.

Yeah, I agree with that ............. for the most part !
Certainly depends on the amount of fishing pressure applied.
I haven't bought live bait in 3 years. Hunter gatherer by nature, so I collect my own night crawlers, from my yard & trap my minnows in the local creeks !!
That said, I love fishing crank baits in unpressured areas. Just something about the more active nature of that kinda fishing.
Paul.

Paul. OK. I'm going to lower the Cone of Silence and let all the turdlike members in on a secret river/stream trout fishing bait. Shhhhhhhh.............................................. In some areas it's a popular bait but in others areas it's a secret. Don't tell anyone. I'd have to kill ya. ...... crikets. ...... The store bought kind. If you can't find them being sold as bait a pet supply will have them. They'll outfish worms in every situation I've where used em. fish head

I agree, down here I never use live bait for freshwater fishing unless the bream and stump knockers are biting then its cricket time. The rattle trap is always tied on one of my bass rods, same for a buzz bait or other loud obnoxious topwater plug.

That looks like something from a sci fi movie..... Where do you find those? under rocks on the edges of streams and rivers. They are as tough as a rubber worm and you can easily catch 3 to 5 fish before they die and are tore up to bad. Smallmouth go gaga over them and so do big trout. Kent
