JB, Is there any felt recoil advantage to the curved European CZ rifle stocks over the straight American style rifle stocks in large bore African caliber bolt action rifles? Thanks

It depends on whether the rifle is scoped. If you leave it bare, perception will often favor the Euro design but the cartridge has a lot more to do with it than the design itself.
If you were comparing .30/06's you would not notice it as much as if they were .458's.

It also depends on the individual shooter and rifle, as both of those vary.
In general the Euro-style stock acts much like a Monte Carlo, except many of the Euros don't have the down-sloping comb of many Monte Carlos.

I understand how the Euro-style of stock acts like a Monte Carlo, but the hog back slope of the comb is sure ugly (in my opinion).

Every one I've ever fired has kicked "worse" than a straight American stock. JB is utterly correct -- everyone fits a little differently, and what feels really good to me may hurt you like hell. Or vice versa. But I agree the sloping stocks look like crap...IMO . Dennis

I'm more tolerant of "Bavarian" style stocks than many Americans, mostly because I like the quality and features of German rifles in general--but must admit it isn't my favorite stock style for looks.
Of course, a lot depends on the overall rifle, and the individual styling of the stock. I have seen so-called American classic stocks that were butt-ugly, and everybody who's seen my Merkel K1 thinks the stock is pretty nice--though thanks in part to a nice piece of wood.
