HAVE OLD REM 22. WANTED TO INSTALL A SCOPE, HAD TO TAP FOR MOUNTS. BEING LAID UP AN SICK OLD BUDDY SAID HE WOULD HELP OUT. WHEN DONE POINT OF IMPACK 4IN LEFT WITH NO MORE AJUSTMENTS.. THINK I CAN FIX PROBLEM WITH WINDAGE RINGS. AM I RIGHT WITH MY IDEA OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING

You might try to regain some of those inches by bending the barrel over your buddy's head. Or, insist he bend it over yours for letting him touch it in the first place. No one can tell what needs to be done without actually seeing the problem first hand. Do you have a friend with a welder?

I picked up a Model 70 in 243 like that for cheap...the drill and tap were screwed up at the factory.. sent it back and they didn't fix it.. just sent me a target on how tight of groups the rifle would shoot..

I installed Leupold Windage adjustable rings and bases on it and the problem was solved...
