What method will work best to turn my Old Timer blades black in color?

With regular use, the carbon steel blades will develop a patina. Something acidic, like lemon juice will hasten the process.

Birchwood Casey cold blue, available dang near anywhere, works pretty well. Though the why escapes me.

VANimrod had this down to a science. You might want to PM him or do a search for his thread. Seems like he used lemon juice and steel wool.
