Got a .50 in blue. A great rifle ... very accurate. I put a Lyman 57 receiver sight on it and that has proven to be a great improvement over the factory rear sight for my middle age eyes. I would not hesitate to buy another 700ML.

Shoots well out to 125 yds;seems to fall off quickly after 150yds.I take mine to camp only as a backup to Triumph or Encore.takes a little more time & effort to clean.Look to see if it is a magnum model; the 700ml(first generation) will only take 125 gr powder; the magnum(second) will shoot 150 gr.powder.It's a good gun but it has had a lot of bad press: where I hunt I need a 200yd+ rifle.

The .54s bring higher prices. You don't need anything more than 80 grains of 3f in any inline. The 700ML is the best inline ever made IMO. $250 is a good price for a stainless. $200 is good for a blued one.

Curious about the comments about the two versions. Mine is the short barrel & the manual specs 120g max. The longer barreled version ... what, beyond the barrel length, are the differences?

If you buy one,,,,,PLEASE dont forget to clean the inside of the bolt,,You need to disasemble the bolt and clean it good,,if not, it will freeze up on you, and the gun wont fire..

I called Remington when the "magnum" 700 ml came out and asked if the earlier rifles were safe with 150 grains of powder.......they assured me the early guns were fine with the higher charge. I personally don't believe the 150 grain charge is necessary. I use 100 grains of FFG 777 with a 250 grain bullet and a Hornady "high pressure" sabot. My longest shot so far was a laser ranged 204 yards on a whitetail doe......she dropped in her tracks......I have killed several at 150 and farther. My rifle will routinely put 3 shots in an inch.
If you buy it, the 209 kit made in Canada is much better than the factory Remington kit.

I have two of the blued 700 ML in .50 and I love them both. The first was an impulse buy when the store I went to to buy a S&W K22 had sold it before I got there.
The second was a $150 purchase when a guy I work with 'upgraded' to a T/C....it has a camo plastic stock, while the first has been shifted over to a wood stock. It is my hunting rig. With 100gr of 777, a 240 XTP and a 209, it will put 5 shots around 1.5" at 100 yards.
The trigger and accuracy are great, but cleaning is a pain in the butt. Brucie is right: cleaning the bolt is much overlooked and is a pain in the keester
BTW: the guy I bought the second one from wanted to buy it back after he couldn't get his 'super-duper' T/C to shoot to his liking.....I probably would have sold it back if he hadn't told me how great it shoots

It can freeze even if it's clean - just takes a wee bit of precip and some extremely cold temps. I had mine fail to go "boom" when a VERY mature whitetail was standing in front of it. Twas the last time I carried a 700ML. Shame too, mine was wonderfully accurate.

i had one (50 cal, blued) that was quite accurate. easily killed deer and elk when i did my part. however, as previously mentioned, a real pain to clean. sold it and went with a tc inline. sold that and now back to my tc renegade.

I don't consider the bolt to be all that difficult to clean.......just pull the firing pin/shroud assembly, hose it down with some cheap spray cleaner, scrub with an old toothbrush, hose it down again and oil it up.......it takes awhile, but it's not that difficult. I recently bought a couple of these conversion kits that virtually eliminate blowback into the bolt...... The breech plug features a removable/replaceable vent liner like the Savage muzzleloaders

OK, I'm new to straight line muzzle loaders but have a Remington 700 ML on the way. Can you give me a link to these kits? Thanks in advance!

We bought one of the .50 cal SS models, and it was a great accurate gun. It was kind of picky about the bullet and powder but once we found the right combination you couldn't ask for anything better as far as accuracy.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost....

You are welcome.......might note, the $80 kits I bought are for 50 cal and 45 cal is different......don't know what's different, just that they are......not sure if the 54 cal is different than the 50. Just an FYI......this is the sabot I'm using. http://www.hornady.com/store/50-Cal-.452-High-Velocity-Sabots/I have tried others and they didn't work as well in my rifle.
