Are they any good ? will they hold zero and adjust ok ? Where is the best price on one ? It or something similar in it's price range is all I can afford. It will go on a .30-06

I mounted a Pro-Staff 3-9X40 on my Tikka T3 in .223. I actually like it very much. Great clarity at all power ranges, it tracks exceptionally, and absolutely holds a zero. Around here you can find one without too much difficulty in the $145 range. I personally have always been a Leupold guy, but decided to try this Nikon. I'm very happy with it.

I recently put a 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaff on a Rem. 725 30-06. So far so good, about 80 rounds fired and had no changes in impact. Optics were as clear as the Leupold VXII I compared it to at the local gunstore when I bought it. Except for a Simmons it is only the second non-Leupold scope I have ever bought when purchasing new scopes. The money saved by not buying the Leupold went towards some Barnes triple shock bullets that I have not tried yet, and some gun cleaning supplies. I hope it was worth it. Rob

I have a couple and have sold a couple of dozen Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7x and 3-9x scopes. They have all worked well and everyone who has bought from me has been pleased at the value. Nikon claims that they have VX3 quality lens coatings, but I have no way of proving/disproving their claim.
I have a 2-7x on a Winchester 100 in 308 that I use to cull whitetail does on tightly managed trophy properties owned by a good friend. In the 2 years that I have had this scope/rifle combination, I have shot a lot of deer and carried it for a lot of bumpy dirt road miles without a single malfunction. The only thing that I don't like about the Nikon is that the 2-7x has the parallex set at 75 yards and Nikon won't adjust it. That said, the 2-7x is sold as a shotgun scope and a 75 yard parallex setting has never caused me any trouble, but it is something that might sway you 1 way or the other.
