Timberbuck I'm working on finding a coating for my M-4 blades I may powder coat them or use another coating of some kind I'm doing some testing at the moment I'll let you know as soon as I decide what I plan on using. I plan on doing my Gayle Bradley spyderco also if it works out I would be glad to help you out.I've worked with a lot of steels but M-4 is impressive stuff

Timberbuck the clear ceramic Gun Shield is rust proof and can be reapplied over itself. It is also very slick. we are going to have it in a small squeeze tube in about 60 days. We are coating broadheads with it now.

Doug, the OP stated that he was trying to Blue his blade. Will your Clear Coat Blue it?

Also, Blueing is a surface oxidation which I think both looks nice and will not leave any type of residue when cutting. However, I shy away from putting any type of coating on a blade that may;
1. Hinder cutting efficiency (ie increase CoF)
2. Leave residue when cutting food materials

Just my $0.02

Vince,
It was more for knifeman. He said he is looking at powder coating. To answer your question no it won't blue. It can be applied over bluing or powder.It has aCoF on a par or better than Teflon. It won't leave a residue and is inert when cured. I use it on all my hunting knives. You can get rid of hot deer fat on a cold blade by flicking your wrist. We are in the process of getting FDA approval for primary food contact.
