Putting this up first in an attempt to stir interest and possibly create a wish list for some posters...
I am selling a collection of guns for elderly friends. They are both 85 and want to start cleaning some things up before their daughter has to...
There will be somewhere between 130-150 guns with a little of everything thrown in. We have been planning this for some time and some of the better stuff went away in the meantime. There was a pre-64 70 in 375H&H which is perfect! Not a scratch on it and quite a bit better than ordinary wood... It was given to the son-in-law...
There is a strong leaning toward the late '70s in age for much of the collection, including a huge pile of Ruger 77s, all as New in Boxes. There is a bunch of green box stuff, heavy to shotguns, with some neat things aside from that.
The handguns will be the last stuff I list, but there are quite a few of them...
Just to keep this legit by campfire rules on posting prices with items I am going to list something I found in the stack that made me smile and brought me back to 12/25/1966 when I opened a green box and found a new Nylon 66 inside.
But this one is a little different... it is Apache black (lots of "chrome") and ANIB, never been fired. The original box has a special offer, with a Remington hat, and a stack of coupons, one per month of 1979, for $1.00 to buy ammo. It also includes the store materials to advertise the special deal, all still in the original box.
After seeing what these things go for these days I am forced to ask what it looks like folks would pay... The owners have made it very clear we are not looking to squeeze every last nickle out of the guns, just making a reasonable attempt to simplify things. And there are a LOT of freaking guns to move.
I picked up the first 20 the other day and while looking at them was asked to see if there were more unaccounted for under some stuff in the back of the safe... Yup, about 30...
There will be some good deals and some great deals, some good stuff and some junk... But back to the Apache black Nylon 66.
Knowing what these sold for then I am finding it hard to believe it but the starting price is $650 for the ANIB 66 with the advertising extras. There is however no manual for the 66 in the box, instead it is a 541 manual??? If it fails to sell soon at this price I will drop it, but I am thinking the right person might find it.
I will post pictures here in just a short while as I am going to take them now. I wil also be listing a 77 or two and a couple Mexican mauser barreled actions with a huge "extra".
Thank you for your patience. art

Okay, here are some photos of the nylon66 AB: Side view with the primary quarry of the imagination of an adolescent, a Kodiak brown bear skull and a side view of the rifle. The box end with the stuff that shows how it was shipped. The box also has a shipping label to a Kodiak, Alaska store address from an Anchorage wholesaler (V.F. Grace) and a label telling dealers to pull out and use the ad included in the box. That material remains sealed in a plastic bag in the box. Complete box of goodies including hat, coupons, advertising, and rifle. Remington hat, coupons, and advertising. Just the coupons to get money back every month of 1979 for buying cartridges. Thanks for looking! art

Just a thought, any chance there will be a Ruger 30-06 with sights (I think that was called an RS model)? That was my first rifle, but like an idiot I sold it. I'd like to replace it sometime.

Wow, excited to see what there could be, so many guns they don't make anymore that I would love to have. I always wanted to look through some old-timers stuff to see what they could have.

Sure is nice of you to offer up your services to your friends. I have done it before for and it is a pile of work and in my case, not much thanks!
Look forward to seeing the list.
