Which cartridge has killed the most game (worldwide) in the last 100 years? My bet is the 7x57.

The Chosin Few November to December 1950, Korea. I'm not one of the Chosin Few but no more remarkable group of Americans ever existed.

I think it would be between a 30 cal. round and a 7MM one. As to which specific cartridge I would have no idea, but the 2 mentioned should be contenders.
In the latter half of the century, I would think the 7 Rem. Mag. and 300 Win. Mag. have accounted for alot of critters.
What did the old African market and cull hunters use?

I'd bet the 7.62X39 is surprisingly up there with all the wars it's been involved in.

Or a 12 Ga. shotgun with number 7 1/2 or 6's. Lost of squirrels, turkeys, doves, ducks and pheasants, rabbits etc. hammered with those. I know...not considered a cartridge.

My vote. And I bet from 1910 to 1970 or so the 30-30 was one heck of a contender.
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.

.22 rimfire if all the small game is added up, 30.30 with it's longevity, maybe .308/7.62x51 with all the FNFAL's, military units, and sportsman shooting it around the world.
I almost said the 375 HH, but I do not know how it does outside of Africa.

I picked the 7x57 because it was introduced around the world as a military round, many thousands into South America and the African continent. Plus being chambered in thousands of sporting rifles, plus it's universal acceptance as a great killer.

On further reflection, might have to add the 6.5x55 to the list as it also was used around the world, just like the 7x57.

Pretty sure the 303 Br had the widest worldwide distribution, so likely has killed the most game.

I would go with the 30-06, the .303, and the 7.62x39.
All three are military rounds with wide distribution to many countries.
The 30-06 was chambered in lots of rifles and has also become the most popular sporting caliber in the world during the 20th century. It is truly ubiquitous.
The .303 went everywhere the British empire went and that says a lot. From Africa, to Australia, to Canada, to India and Central Asia it has been used everywhere to kill everything.
And the 7.62x39 has gone with the AK to every corner of the world in the last 50 years. It is the standard rifle and caliber practically everywhere nowadays and particularly in Africa where, importantly to this thread, there is lots and lots of game.

223 is right up there.
7.62X39 is the winner.
Many different subsistence groups hunt with one or the other.
