Recently reported he swam in the Gulf.
I wonder if he would eat shrimp caught right off LA shores?
And let his family eat it?
Anyone have concerns over safety?

Recently reported he swam in the Gulf. Too bad he can swim.. I wonder if he would eat shrimp caught right off LA shores? I'm thinking his tastes run more to KFC. And let his family eat it? Nope - only conservatives.. Anyone have concerns over safety? Not me.. I couldn't care less where it originated..

Anyone have concerns over safety? Methinks he needs to hold another of his hugely expensive white house "parties," ...... With 500 of the "top" world leaders of all kinds invited!!!!! The event would be a 'Gulf shrimp boil and festival, all you can eat!' At least a couple pounds apiece. (that is extemely easy to do when the shrimp is good and fresh - I know from too many boyhood experiences growing up on the FL gulfcoast!! Some 'gulf smells' including 'fresh shrimp' even trigger good memories ) The whole point of the "white house shrimp festival" would be to demonstrate real quick the fitness for consumption of gulf-shrimps!Think any world-leaders would croak from tummy-aches or oily-indigestion?? P.S. - I agree the shrimps for the WH seafood bash should come from Lousianna "nets" exclusively!

I'll eat the seafood from the Gulf all day long .... no worries for me
shrimp, redfish, crabs, flounder .. I ain't skeeered
countless studies have been done as the seafood is safe to consume
sadly, nearly the entire oyster crop in the Barataria estuary has died and will take awhile to revuvenate . The fisherman and processing plants are devastated to say the least
fresh water was released from various tributaries to keep the oil and dispersants from entering the marsh and killing the fauna / ecosystem
the fresh water ended up killing the oysters as they need salt water to survive
it was a catch22 that no one predicted or saw coming .... they saved some of the marsh, but at a price of losing the oyster crop
not good in South LA right now for those who's livelihood depends on oysters

Couldn't the state and locals most affected (with BP picking up the tab) bring in however many tons of freshly-shucked oyster shells and just dump the spent oyster shells in the "dead" beds and tidal estuaries? I suppose it would take a several years to grow a mature enough crop to harvest, but couldn't it be done? (very carefully I'm assuming, to prevent any new diseases or other nasty things from also happening) I lived on a bayou in Florida through my HS years. When we'd dump shucked oysters into the water just a "few yards" from our back yard, the shells automatically grew new oysters! I never ate the snotty things however, unless my pops steamed them on the barbaque. But you're right that some fishermen are in fact 'oystermen' and harvest them exclusively - or did.

Stubble Duck, great idea for promoting the safety.
Cajun Blake, It is sad the oyster debacle. Wish the best for all the workers in the seafood industry, they have had a rough go this year.
Going to miss Grilled Oysters....hope they bounce back fast.

No oily taste? That's GOOD to hear!!!! Steve_NO. Been more than 30yrs since I visited Florida, but I well remember the Gulf seafood! Besides fresh shrimp, pompano, fresh blue crab and deviled crab and longusta were favorites too!

He expressed a strong concern about the dispersants used comparing their effects to Agent Orange. I don't have a clue as to whether or not the shrimp would be safe to eat. You may not be able to taste anything but would that mean that the danger is not there??
