I'm sure folks were running around and bitching about the NEW Testament when it came out.

no good can come out of this attempt. Hollywood seems to be unable to make a decent movie any more, and no one out there can come up with an original idea.
The actors are, for the most part, anti American lefty pukes, including matt damon.

I will watch it, but you just don't replace The Duke. I can't imagine there will be too many similarities, and this turkey's gonna flop big time.

I'll watch it, but if they try to copy JW it will be a flop. If remade from the book with a different slant it should be good as it is based on a true story. Little Matty was a real person and lost the arm in real life.

Terry,

What makes you say that? I have only ever seen Portis's book described as a "novel" with no indication it was based on real life?

I think its great, possibly because it might add one more good, or if we are lucky, great western to the ranks.

Another is that there will be an uptick of people watching the original True Grit and more folks watching the Duke and maybe learning something from his persona isn't a bad thing.

Heck I might just watch it today, its been awhile.

I'll watch it. Compared to movies they're making today it might be ok. Hope they don't try to get some political correctness into it.

I think it might actually be better than the so-called original which was a John Wayne film instead of being a faithful rendition of the book. If they follow the book, it should be good.

I also hope the shoot it in more realistic environs than the John Wayne movie. Being from Arkansas and having lived in both Arkansas and Oklahoma it always bothered me that it was filmed in the Colorado in the Rocky Mountains. Hopefully, this one is being filmed in the Ouachitas or somewhere similar and it looks more realistic.

I'm sure I'll watch it at some point in the future. If for no other reason, just because it's a Western, a rare thing nowdays.

More likely than not it won't be a movie my young grandkids can watch (As the majority of movies made nowadays are) due to profanity, nudity and sexual content.

Not a prude by any stretch, but in my view, the violence can be explained as it's fake blood, blanks, special effects, etc., nobody was really injured or killed but the extreme profanity, nudity, etc., is usually real. YMMV

Thinking that steering clear of a crazy bitch, or one that was a lousy lay does not mean forgoing puzzy for the rest of one's life.

And Matt Damon is appropriate for the role of LaBeouf, considering the character is a gigantic douchebag.

I'm glad I already swallowed my sip of coffee before reading that. laugh
