Steve Giardini Indicted On Child Porn Charges

MOBILE, Alabama - Former Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Steve Giardini is out of jail on $250,000 bond.

Giardini, who specialized in the prosecution of sex crimes against children before he resigned in April 2009, was arrested early Tuesday morning by the Attorney General�s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for child sex crimes.

Giardini was indicted by a Mobile County Grand Jury Friday on three counts:

� one count of acting with the intent to entice a child under the age of age 16 for intercourse, sodomy or other sexual purposes, a class C felony punishable by one to 10 years imprisonment;
� one count of acting with the intent to criminally solicit the production of child pornography, a class B felony punishable by two to 20 years imprisonment;
� one count of acting with the intent to entice a child for sexual purposes, by means of computer, telephone, personal digital assistant, or other electronic means of communication or information storage, a class B felony punishable by two to 20 years imprisonment.

Giardini is accused of trying to solicit what he thought was a 15-year old girl for sex. But the person on the other end of the computer was actually an agent with the FBI's Internet Crimes Against Children division.

�The crimes alleged in this indictment are all the more horrifying in that the defendant was a prosecutor entrusted to protect citizens from evil and criminal wrongdoing,� said Attorney General Troy King. �The people of Alabama should be reassured, however, that no one is above the law, and that those who seek to harm and exploit our children will be punished, whoever they are.�

It reminds me of old (idiot) Elliot Spitzer (former Governor of NY) He was passionate about prosecuting sex crimes and prostitutes. Unfortunately he was caught and was Client #9 in the hookers record book. I love it when people we elect show they are beneath contempt, corrupt and actually get caught and check into a jail..
