Five of us going weve got 2 muzzleloader Bull tags and Three muzzleloader cow tags. Its gonna be bloody this year. Well see if our home built meat cooler can hold five elk. Whats everyone else got going for elk season? O yea ive got one of the cow tags.

Weve had high 90 degrees temps for the last two weeks. One of the best parts of the trip is when we pull into Silverthorne Colorado for fuel and the temps are in the low forties or high thirties it feels great after a long hot midwest summer.

I agree....can hardly wait for Oct 8th. Heading to unit 54 with an either sex elk, cow elk, and buck deer licenses all for muzzleloader season. Already contacted my horse rental guy too. Yeehaw!

I don't leave until the 29th of October for NM. Going back to area just north of Ruidoso where I was blessed to take a 350 class a few years back. Probably a good thing I am going later as the mountain training in S. Texas is going a little slow in the 100+temps.

Best of luck to ya'll and most of all enjoy the mountains and the cooler weather.

I'm leaving the 8th and I'm only 250 miles from my elk hunting area, but we will spend two days just pleasure riding the trails, taking in the sights and seeing where other camps are. It's the pits of going up the day before season, getting up at o-dark thrity and getting to your honey hole only to find some yahoo has set up a camp in the middle of it.
It's nice to watch the leaves turn from green to gold as we are up there. Plan to come back Monday after the season closes, unless we are unfortunate enough to tag out early

Deployments keep me away too much but every few years we get that perfect moment to get a hunt together for Colorado and this year is one of them. I cannot wait and I feel your excitement. If you are a hunter, when it gets this close to hunting season, and you don't get a hop in your step you need to see a doctor or just stop. 2nd Rifle can't come fast enough. Good luck.

Our trucks and trailers are loaded and we head out Tuesday morning. Can't wait. Got a ML e/s elk and a ML bear tag. Friends have archery elk tags.

Good luck everybody!
