Handguns, and shotguns. A Ruger .22 Convertible in .22 Mag. for Jacks, rattlers ( the #11 shot does not bounce off them @ 10 feet) and tree rats. Or one of my 1911 style pistols, in .45 ACP. The WC target ammo allows you to eat right up to the .45 cal bullet hole. The CCI shot rds. have enough pattern density to kill quail, and cottontails, to at least 15 yds. We can put Blue Grouse on the handgun menu, too. I've got four shotguns. Two nice O/U's, for things that don't need a camo painted gun, and an 1187 Rem., or a M37 Ithaca; for things that do. Then the .22 M39 Marlin will work fine for appropriate things. If I think I might bump into a fat forked horn while squirrel hunting, I carry a .25-20 M1894 CL Marlin. E.

Model 1100 20 gauge for squirrels. 870 Express Supermag for rabbits with dogs, ducks, and geese. Might try the old model 60 this year for squirrels.
Mike 99
What kind of scope mount and scope do you have on your Buckmark. What model Buckmark is it. I have a Buckmark Plus that I was thinking about mounting a scope or red dot on. How do you like it?

For Birds, take what it is, wherever it is, pair of Winchester 101 pigeon grade 12 guage 27 inch with Choke tubes. Until situation clarifies always choked IC/IM.
For 4 legged critters, mostly a Sako M78 .22 LR or a scoped Colt Python--the eyes ain't what they used to be--with .38 wadcutters. BTW,IMO, a much safer round for squirrels than the .22 LR and kills them better too. I have never lost a head shot with .38 WC but have lost several that were hit too far forward with a .22.

Ruger 77/22 Hornet with a 4x16. Here in the open country it's good prep for long shots at antelope.

For squirrels, I prefer .22LR or .22 WMR rifle using solid points. I have several .22's that I use on kind of rotational basis. For doves, I use shotguns of 12, 16, and 20 ga., again on a kind of rotational basis. On those rare occasions that I take my two aging beagles rabbit hunting, I usually use one of my 20 ga. shotguns, figuring that I'm going to do a lot more carrying than I am shooting. Rabbits are scarce in my neck of the woods.

For small game I use my H&R 12 and 20 gauge. I also have a Marlin .22 that I've used in the past, but it needs some work done to it right now.
