Bruce, I played with the 60g Nosler partition in two different Rem 700's in 22/250. I was shooting a load of 39.0g of IMR 4350 with a Win primer, groups with both rifles were in the 1 1/2" area.
One guy here kills a lot of deer with that load each year.
Also, the Sierra 63g Semi point will stabalize in your 14 twist, back off some on the above load and run the 63g.
Back to your barnes load, what kind of patterns are you shooting?

You're seating them real deep. Try about .010" off the lands. Also your gun just may not like that bullet.....barrels can have their preferences. I've never shot Barnes bullets but a lot of posts have talked about them not being very accurate.

Finding the right seating depth for a barrel can be a PITA. I have one .223 that's about .130 off if I remember right. Some of my guns like Barnes up close to the lands, some don't. I have no words of wisdom about how to find the magic depth and I have done around thirty rifles so far.

Brucie, it sounds like your barrel is not crazy about those bullets.
You may want to give the other bullets I mentioned a try.

I called Barnes,,,said keep going on the seating depth. Can go to .120 out.. At .060 ,i was able to put three out of five in same ragged hole, plus two flyers??? I guess ill try .065,.070 and .075.. Anyone use IMR 4350 in the 22-250 improved..??

Lots of bullets out there to choose from and plenty of them that will kill and work just fine out of a 14 twist. I'd be suprised if you didn't get the 53 TSX to shoot. Varget or R15 has always gotten it to perk for me.
And if it don't buy some 55 Horns w/c, and or my all time fav the 63 Sierra and rock on. The 64 PP is another good choice.

Still say the problems folks have had with 53's opening is because of that damn silly 1-14" twist.

No doubt the 1-14 is my problem, but i must live with it for now.. and my best group is with VARGET.. I can get the COMBINE TECH/NOSLER 50,s to shoot good, but i need a big game bullet, they are varmit rated,, and anything over 55gr, is not compatible for the 1-14 twist,so i here? My wish is to shoot the BARNES bullets, they dont come apart like most bullets out there.. Just had shouler surgery, and need a low recoil gun. After 12 shots of the 22-250, and iam done for the week.

Shooting deer/lopes and or what and to what ranges? I'm telling you that the 55 Horn w/c and or the 63 Sierra with varg or R15 will rock and will flat out kill critters!

(side note, to date...I've not seen a 14 twist that wouldn't shoot a 53 TSX but if'n I did find one there's a ton of other bullets that would do me just fine)

I would try the 40g GS Custom HV bullet. That bullet at 4300-4400 fps would be bad news for anything that you shoot with it. I have killed 2 whitetails with this bullet(3800fps in .223) and they are wicked. Complete pass throughs on both deer, on one after breaking opposite shoulder. http://www.gsgroup.co.za/02hv.htmlYou may want to try Rhino bullets also. http://www.safaribullets.com/index.html

Try seating the Barnes at 0.100" off the lands.

Could try the Sierra 55 SBT gameking no. 1365 it works very well in a 14" 22-250 and also in a 220 swift on coyotes. The way it preforms on the yotes I'm sure that it would work just fine on deer. It's lot tougher than a regular varmint bullet, also have heard good reports on the Hornady 55 SP with a cannalure.

Your 14 twist WILL stabalize the 63g Sierra, make no mistake about that(max load of IMR 4350 with a Win primer) Also, the 55g Hornady is one heck of a tough bullet(top end loads with Win 760, 3700+ fps) I just read of your shoulder surgery....best wishes in the recovery. If you have a Vias muzzle break installed on the 22/250, you can shoot it all day long...will recoil less than a 223, and in the ball park of a 17 Remington if you have ever shot one. I can not say enough good about the 63g Sierra, and don't believe all the talk that your 14 twist will not stabalize it!
