Hi all
I have this little 7x57 that's proving to be a royal pain in the ass. It's a Brno zkk 600 barrel is in excelent condition and there really should not be a reason this rifle will not shoot 1" groups.
Koedoe, I have a Brno ZKK 600 in 7x57 and I think I could close my eyes, yank the trigger and still shoot 1 inch groups. It is the most accurate "big game" rifle I have. My suggestion would be to try IMR 4350. Yes my Brno shoots the heavies really well like the 170 Sierra RN. With 2.85-2.9 grams of IMR4350 it shoots Sierra 160s into 1/2-3/4 inch groups. I can get 1/2" groups with the 154 RN Hornady using the same powder. My deer hunting load for this year will feature 49.0-49.1 grains of IMR4350 and the 140 Partition - 5 shots group under 1 inch and I had one 3 shot group where all three shots overlapped one another. That rifle will shoot no doubt, you just need to find out what powder it likes. I couldn't hlp noticing you comment about the 170 gr. Round nose by Sierra. My Winchester M70 in 7x57 loves that bullet using W-760. (Same as H414) I supose you already know that Sierra no longer makes the 170 gr. RN (DAMMIT!)so I hope you have a decent supply. I still have a few but I'm always scrounging at the gun show looking for more. I got a few left. I know where another 300 are as well and I doubt they have been sold as nobody wants an "old round nosed bullet". LOL

Koedoepeester,
What do you want to do with your 7x57 that cannot be done with 175 grain bullets? You said the gun shoots well with them, so why not shoot them? I do, and they work great. If its trajectory you're worried about, the 175s probably shoot flatter than you realize.
Our God reigns. Harrumph!!! I often use quick reply. My posts are not directed toward any specific person unless I mention them by name.

Didn't the 7x57 gain it's enviable record using 175-180gr bullets? I know a 154gr RN bullet has awsome results when you stick it in a deer.
Aim for the exit hole.

Hi all
I have this little 7x57 that's proving to be a royal pain in the ass. It's a Brno zkk 600 barrel is in excelent condition and there really should not be a reason this rifle will not shoot 1" groups.
Anyhow I have neen mucking about for the past summer and tried barnes x 140gr as well as speer 145gr softs in it.
with both RL19 and H414 this rifle will very consistently shoot 1.5" groups but I cannot seem to shrink them by much past that.
Also played a little with bullet seating depth and still not much luck.
So yesterday I bought some 175gr federal RN factory ammo and the rifle shot 1" groups all [bleep] day long! Those are too heavy for my purposes and would prefer a load that would be above 2700 fps in this gun, so probably should stay with a 140gr bullet.
I have a huge collection of 7mm bullets in all weight ranges so before I go and buy even more bullets. given the fact that I have a 1:9 twist rate, Loooooonnnnggg throat and it shoots 175gr bullets well what bullet would you suggest I try next?? Barnes X was so far the best but it chokes me to pay more than a buck for a bullet.
Thanks Koedoe I had the same problem with my ZKK 7x57, I removed the screw in the front that holds the stock. After that the 140's shot under an inch.

I do own a Chrony and usually only use it when I have a load that is accurate, to get a better idea of how my load is performing.
I realize that the 175 trajectory is not too bad ( great-great gandpa picked tommies of at long range with 173gr bullets) But I want to shoot to 250meters with no hold over so I am going to go try these 160 gr speer softs today as soon as it stops raining (I hope) It they do not shoot, then 160 accubonds.
Barrel is free-floated and has been re-crowned by a competent smith also glass bedded the area around the front screw that holds the stock to the action.
I don't get drunk, I get awesome
