been shooting with 4in quickspin vanes for years...i fudged an order and got 2in vanes and fletched some arrows. Figuring the center of mass of the 4in vane was probably closer to the back of the vane i fletched these 2in vanes with the end about a half inch anterior compared to the ends of 4in vanes. Now the balance point on the arrow has moved with the 2in vanes exactly a half inch forward.

Besides wondering where they'll hit - haven't taken any shots yet - I'm looking at these 2in vanes doubting their stability with fixed broadheads and crosswinds compared to the 4in...any thoughts/ experiences?

I shoot both, have the back of the fletching at the same place, and don't notice a difference at all with in impact location. I know 2" blazers are supposed to spin your arrow faster, thus creating more stability/straighter flight/less wind resistance, but I have no actual way to measure that.

Not sure how they would work with fixed blade BH's I mostly shoot expendables. But I would suspect that with less surface area to catch wind they would be less effected by cross winds.

I have switched to 2" Quickspins but still think I got far better arrow flight from 4" feathers with a hard helix.

Never fletched an arrow. But I use a WB and with wraps and 2" Blazer vanes. And all is perfect! And tough as hell..

2" with slicktricks, and Montec G5's have no POI difference with 2" or 4" vanes for me.

I think if you're on the edge of arrow weight/spine the odds would be greater, but if you're shooting a comfortably sized arrow weight and spine, the fletch will not be such a big difference. Within a reasonable hunting range. Shooting over 45-50 yards your on your own with that, never shot at game that far.

Shot 4" Bohning vanes with my older set ups and seem to stabilize aluminum shafts well with broad heads. With my Maxxis I fletched up 2"Blazers with a 2% offset tipped with 100 gr Rage on St Epic 400's at 26.5". Shoot like bullets. If wind is a big factor try some FOB's.

I shoot fingers and use 2" vanes! They are awsome and my BH's fly great.

Good Shooting!
