You know, since race and racism are all the rage these days.

Here's one hit of 282,000 results.......the untold history about slavery in the U.S.

There were a lot of Free Blacks in the South and many owned slaves. Even in the times of the Founding Fathers there were a lot of Free Blacks in the South.

There is also the matter that a couple white dudes didn't just show up in Africa and round them up.

Whole lotta black on black hate crime......to this day.

Interesting, isn't it....the pious platitudes from the left directed at the evil white man for conducting slavery and creating the "existance" of racism, when blacks themselves were willing facilitators as well.

Black Slave Traders in Africa, and Black Slave Owners here...amazing that this part of history has been left out.

Does the modern white man owe any mea culpa for any of this?

When the "race card" is played for simply disagreeing with the current socialist regime, or simply wanting to oust the rotten bastard in favor of a better qualified president, should the evil white man cringe with remorse?

Further, SC greatly assisted in the liberation of slaves off our coastal waters to friendly much more friendly nations.

None of us here ever owned, traded or sold a slave, yet we have to pay for that sin daily.

How ironic to hear "Don't judge a man by the color of his skin", yet we are judged by the actions of men who lived over one hundred of years ago.

The Dutch and the Brits started the slave trade out of Africa.

The arabs facilitated the trade, and ran most of the 'gathering' efforts.

Every black in America is here because one of their fellow blacks sold them into slavery. A Dutchman, Brit or yankee brought them over.

And don't forget that when the Back to Africa movement helped thousands of blacks from the U.S. return to Africa that the first thing they did upon arrival in Liberia was to catch slaves to do the work for them.

I didn't know that! The computer is a wonderful devise that fills in lots of history blanks. Did you know that 25% of the cowboys of the historic cattle drives were black? The 9th & 10th Calvary were black. They fought in the Indian Wars, the Mexican War, the Spanish American War, and WWI.

Just amazing what folks will rationalize for money I'd guess.

Slavery of course would never have been a problem if it weren't PROFITABLE.

Over in Africa, I lived among the Ashantis, who had been probably the premier slave traders to the Western slavers (IIRC, most of the Arab-run slave-trading networks west north and east). In fact me and a buddy travelled ninety miles across an area largely depopulated by slaving in the 19th Century and still not settled back up.

New Orleans probably had the largest concentration of free blacks and black slave owners in the US. Many of them were creoles...part white, freed by their masters who were also their fathers or grandfathers. or favorite concubines would be freed.

many of them went into business...farming, craftsmen, artisans...and when they needed workers they naturally hired slaves. it was a status symbol, as well as an economically viable way to staff the business.

there is still a huge social divide here between the light skinned "Seventh Ward" creoles, who long controlled the city's black politics, like the Morials, and the darker people. to preserve their light skins and superior status, they used the paper bag test and wouldn't permit their children to marry anyone darker than a grocery bag, lest they produce a coal black child and set the family back.

there is no racism more virulent than black on black racism.

it is also worth noting that objection to slavery on moral grounds originated in England, not among the blacks themselves. The blacks might not want to BE slaves, but they didn't find anything wrong with the institution itself, as long as they weren't the victims.

the abolitionism spread from England to the US, and was picked up here by some prominent blacks like Garrison, and at that point became a moral crusade here. but back in Africa, slavery persists to this day.....blacks owning blacks.
