I would like to restock my Rem 700ML using a laminated wood stock. Using this rifle in WA & OR I am limited to open sights - in this case a Lyman 57 reciever sight. The plastic stock that the rifle came with has a comb a bit high for irons. Are any of you guys aware of a fairly classic 700 ADL design available with a bit more drop for use with irons?

I'm wondering if one could convert an SA ADL stock for this.

i believe any short action remington 700 stock can be used with some alteration for the ramrod and barrel. the last one i did for a client was a thumbhole laminate he got from richards. it was a bdl stock. made a littl box to fit in the magazine opening under the floorplate at his request. don't know what he carried in it.

Tom264 - I am sure you could use an SA ADL stock just fine ... in fact the magazine cutout would lighten things up a bit.

Mull - Thanks for the heads up on the McMillan ... I do want to go with wood on this.

I believe that Richard's Microfit Gunstocks lists the Model 700 ML as one of the actions inlet.

I have exactly the same problem with my 700 ML. I think I'll fill the butt stock with foam and see if I can remove enough material to make it work for me and then finish and paint it.
