This thread is somewhat humorous.
The only ones in this thread that know which way the stick floats is The Real Hawkeye, Bristoe, rrroae, 2legit2quit, and maybe one or two others, the rest of you are clueless.
The most clueless of all are Steve and Bob. Both are members of the elite, rich, ruling class and haven't a clue about the politics of the common man class.
The one thing that everybody forgets is the fact that the United States is composed of fifty sovereign republics that can always call a constitutional convention to throw out the federal system and come up with a different system of government.
The fifty sovereign republics could just let the federal system collapse under it's own weight and go it alone. I'll admit that some of the republics would fair better under a total collapse of the federal system than other republics.
The point being there will not be a revolution or civil war because there is no need, the federal government is doing a good enough job of eating itself alive. There will not be wholesale anarchy because there are fifty sovereign republics to take up the slack when the federal system fails.
My own prediction has always been that the fifty sovereign republics will call for a constitutional convention, design a new national system, replace the old federal system and life will go on.
This ought to throw another log on the old fire.

Does anyone have a quick link to the thread Roy(wildswalker) posted a few months back on a topic rather similar to this one(as far as coups go). That is the thread I was alluding to.

Economic distress as a precursor for revolution has a very very bad track record for results. That is for sure.

You mean this one, the one taken grossly out of context by folks prone to do that sort of thing, to mean I was advocating coup, simply because I advised my leftist socialist political enemies to pray we would never have to meet on a battlefield? Ironic that one took the same path this one is seeming to....... To The Obama Voter.........

The "fantastically stupid 4" (Barak, Bristoe, derby_dude, and TRH) are truly a wonder.

And, you keep referencing "violent revolution". You, are the only person saying that.
no, I'm not...the thread started with the idea that military personnel are discussing a coup. don't mince words.....any change in government that is extra-constitutional (i.e. other than by elections or constitutional amendments) will necessarily be violent. and with economic consequences that will make Obama's deficits look like Sunday school, not just for the US but for the world. I disagree Steve. A Military coup could be bloodless if properly executed and any economic consequences would be a positive at this stage...& I think the world would applaud our military should they go that route....I know I would.

Only the military could pull off a change of government. "Joe" civilian will vote, carry signs, and look diligently for the tax loophole, while the "little man", like bristoe, will rob and steal for existance.

that has got to be one of the craziest statements in the history of the fire.....a military coup in the United States would destroy the financial markets of the world overnight. in what fantasy world would a military coup solve any of the US's economic problems? it would make the US a banana republic....that's how they do it.

It would be a financial nuclear winter overnight.
Amazing that people can't see that...

Please clarify your position Steve....
If after all rule of law has been exausted (a very broad scope of cumulative circumstances I know), and it ultimately comes to armed conflict to restore the US Constitution to it's full intended meaning of The People, for The People, by The People; then you will forego the intended purpose of the Second Amendment and be unwilling to participate....correct?

I don't see a military coup executed by the US military being anything close to what happens in third world countries. The reason they're talking about it is the same reason we're talking about it...the politicos are shredding our constitution & their judicial appointees are backing them. Money be damned....

MM....can you not even comprehend what such a action would entail or the resultant response such a attempt would bring upon this country?
Not to even mention the basis for even considering such Tomfoolery in the first place.

The original post.......
I never thought I'd live to hear this kind of talk. Further more I never thought I'd live to understand, relate to, and kind of agree with it.
It used to be that only fringe extreme whackos would be heard discussing the overthrow of our Federal Government. Now, more and more I am hearing normal, level headed, reasonable people start to ask the question, is a revolution needed?
Well, tonight at dinner at the DFAC (dining facility for you civi's) I actually heard soldiers (both NCO's and Officers) openly discussing it. For them, that's extreme as it is VERY punishable under UCMJ, but sure enough they were asking the same questions that many of us have, but openly. I didn't want to see these guys get into trouble so I leaned over and told them that though I can relate to their topic, that they may want to be careful who can overhear them.
Are any of you as heartbroken, worried, concerned, or surprised that our state of affairs have come to this point as I am?
Never have we as a Nation been so polarized since the Civil War. It's a sad time in our history. It breaks my heart, but I completely understand.
