From handgun forum, pushing on hammer, while dry firing seems to smooth the trigger pull quite a lot. Before trying this it was a creepy mess, no set trigger Krico after but 90% improved. Bill P.S. Make sure it's NOT loaded before trying this

What handgun forum are you talking about? Here at Campfire? I went looking and couldn't find it. Can you post a link? I'm intrigued.

took around 350-400 rounds fired before mine started to smooth out.

Can't seem to locate where I got it from either, read it a few weeks ago, whatever. The short of it is, Unload the gun, then cock the hammer back and apply some forward pressure on the hammer while dry firing. It didn't take too many to make a difference. I suspect you don't want to over do it

There's an article on Gunblast about this approach but it was done on a Ruger Blackhawk. http://www.gunblast.com/Poorboy.htm

It may have been where I saw it, they say memory is the 2nd thing to go, I forget the 1st.

Wild Bill, did you perform this operation on your BLR? I'm tempted to try it, but have never heard of this before and am worried about damaging something.

Yes to both questions, it was on an used 81 I got 80's production. Saw improvement after 1/2 dozen tries. Was not shoving with all my might, just used thumb to apply pressure. Don't know about using on triggers that are already good, don't see the point. The BLR in question had a really creepy trigger'

I have three BLR's and the triggers are all terrible. They are heavy and creepy. Maybe I will dig them out and try this. I put them up because I couldn't make them shoot with the heavy triggers.

I know, let a 358 win go for the same reason, mistake but thats how it goes. Was looking for a 99f but had a 308 blr mag laying around and didn't want it to go to waste:) I would suggest not over doing it, but don't know what that means, as have not yet caused an issue. Won't say it has a great trigger after, but did go from horrible to OK.
