I am beginning the quest for a new mountain hunting boot for medium to high altitude in cool to cold weather that can be used for a lot a walking when necessary, snow can be possible. Comfort is the top priority, with traction and warmth a plus. I can have problems with blisters at the heel area. Would like to keep the price at around $200 if possible but will consider higher, thanks, Dave

Meindl Perfekt, from Cabela's.
Warm, comfortable, lots of support, wear like iron.
My favorite boot, and I've tried a bunch.

You mention cool to cold weather. What temp range? In cool weather, I prefer uninsulated boots, especially if I'm doing a lot of walking.

Love my Danner Elk Hunters. Made in the USA. Great traction from the Air Bob sole. Feet stay dry and warm but won't burn up in warmer weather.

Here's the link to the uninsulated version of which I have a pair and love them....

Another advantage to the air bob sole is that when walking in mud, you don't keep getting taller.

It's always fun to look at the street out in front of my place after I've been out hunting. Those air bobs don't "build up" a lot of mud, but they do collect some, and I leave mud tracks with perfectly round holes in them all over the road and walkway leading up to the door.

You only need 200 grams of thinsulate anything more and your feet will sweat.

If you go Danner make sure they are American made as they last and hold up well. The China stuff is pure crap and a waste of $$$.

I use these and mine have a bobbed sole which I do prefer.

I do everything described, but the mountain. My favorites are Irish Setters.

I agree regarding the Chinese made boots. Garbage, junk, crap.
I've bought a lot of work boots over the years and when Georgia and Wolverine started making them in China, they started falling apart fast.

Have you had any issues with the Air Bobs separating from the sole? So far I've had 6 of the Air Bobs separate from the sole of one pair of my Danner boots. Although they are several years old, they don't have a lot of mileage on them. I'm having them resoled by Danner.

None that I can find. I like Whites but the 400 dollar price is out of my reach. If I remember right I paid 179 dollars for my latest Double H. I wear then for work every day and I am still loving them.
