I just bought a Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon S 28ga w/26" barrels. It is in "Like NEW" conditions with approximately 35 or 40 rounds fired. The safety is really tough to push "OFF Safe". I have other O/U and SxS guns including Grulla, Browning, Rizzini and Winchester. The 686 safety is much more difficult to operate. Do I just need to shoot/use it more and allow it to break in or is there any simple trick to make the safety easier to use. I am a terrible amateur gunsmith so I won't mess with anything myself. I am happy to pay a qualified smith to fix the problem for me if necessary. I have never been sorry when I've had a professional work on any of my firearms. Any advice or information is sincerely appreciated in advance, thanks.

A little time afield in sandy, windy country, and a bit too much oil can easily lead to a sticky safety on a 686.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

Does your gun have the automatic safety? The safety bar may be binding because the top lever isn't going far enough to the left. Try cleaning the action area where the barrels sit and under the ejectors. try pushing the top lever to the left after you close the action, does it still bind?

It has to do with the spring under the safety button, you need to work on it; there is too much pressure exerted on the button.
