Please excuse my ignorance but I am relatively new to the board. I noticed that people keep refering to Remington 700's as SUCKS. What's up with that? What does SUCKS stand for?

Said to suck the life right out of whatever you point them at.
There is a thread from years back that started it all. Do a quick search and you're bound to find it, or somebody with more spunk will post the link here shortly.

SUCKS is an affectionate nickname for the 700 action. Click here to read the thread that got it all started.

Wow, BigSky sure had a run of bad luck with Remington 700's. I own two SUCKS and both are sub MOA guns right out of the box. One is a 1989 Mountain Rifle in .308 and the other is a 2000 BDL SS in 7STW. I adjusted the Mountain Rifle trigger to 3lbs and it works great. The 7STW I installed a Jewell trigger. SUCKS give me no problems what so ever. Shot a big whitetail at -20 F one morning and the .308 SUCKS worked perfectly. SUCKS for me!

Sounds like a couple of nice rifles. Sky had some bad luck but he got it straightened out and is back in the SUCKS camp.

Thanks for the link. I'd tried to find the front end of that debate but it kept going and going. 222

I for one wish that that name would go away.
I know I just accepted Sitka Deers suggestion for some light hearted banter but heck I shot my first deer with a 722 and I still use 40X's for target competition.
The firearms insider that I talked to explained that all of these guns are good. That they have stood the test of time and many of them have sold millions of copies.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

As before I will call the Remington bolt rifles by their model names such as M 722 or M 700. However if someone wants to coin a complimentary phrase or nickname like the M 70's have such as The Rifleman's Rifle then I am all for it.
Let someone start a topic, poll or contest for the purpose.
Ill start. A M 700 action is "The Accuracy Action" AA for short! How's that?

You're late to the party.................. I am not joining that party. Instead I am inviting you to a party that will enhance our hobby and make it more acceptable to others. Keep in mind that you and others who are active here are indeed roll models and many look up to you. So I ask you to set a standard so that all can enjoy our shooting sports here. This includes children who we know are the future of our sport. "He who wishes to exert a useful influence must be careful to insult nothing. Let him not be troubled by what seems absurd, but concentrate his energies to the creation of what is good. He must not demolish, but build. He must raise temples where mankind may come and partake of the purest pleasure." Johann Wolfgang von Goethe German dramatist, novelist, poet, & scientist (1749 - 1832)
