Just thought I would share my outing this weekend to gun show and a few shops, as well as the 99's I checked out.
Went to a show in Southern Ont. Saw one 99 at the show. An early 99H in 303 sav. with ammo for $250. I think BillR cleaned out all the others before I arrived.... haha.
Stopped at a few shops on the way home. Saw a few 99's. The better ones I saw were priced high in my books. Shoulda bought the 99H at the show after seeing these ones!
At one shop,
A 22HP with more holes in metal and wood than swiss cheese.
An early 99R(S) pre-50 in 300, sling swivels and D&T.
A few other bubba'd 99's with what looked like rivets in place of the sear nut.... never mind servicing those ones...
Another shop had nicer 99's, but kinda pricey....
99G in 300. Name and number engraved in tang. Bolt jewelled, checkering banged up on forend. 60% barrel, 20% receiver. $700
1899A in 303. Custom furniture. Advertised as excellent? $500!
