What's the best group anyone shot on live game What you need more than one shot on an animal best shot is still under 700yrds but I dont go past my comfort zone Its nice to not doubt the rifle.....If you stuff up there is only one person to blame (I also shoot a 6.5BR as well that I built for the kids)

65BR,
A couple of years ago I put two 180-grain Norma Oryxes into the same hole at 360 yards on a big mule deer buck, using my .30-06 NULA. The first one was while he was slowly walking: I held just in front of his chest and the bullet landed right behind the shoulder.
The buck stopped right then and stood head down, spraddle-legged, until the second bullet apparently went into the same hole, and he tipped over.
Sad to say, there was another shot in between the two, that I pulled--and completely missed the buck. And I dunno if two shots qualifies as a "group"....

MD, If I were you, I'd just say the 2nd shot went thru that same hole as well. Who knows? It could have.

Forget about groups, shoot dots. It'll be an eye opener. It's a hundred yard target, this rifle will hunt. As you can see I got it dialed in on the last several dots (bottom of target). It was hitting a click to the right and I finally made the adjustment.

Roads, that's accually a pretty impressive target.

It was shot with Harris bipod from a bench with Jamison's light weight rear bean bag. Maybe I'll go prone this weekend to make it like field conditions.

One nit in all of this, most on the internet measure groups outside to outside and then subtract the caliber, this is usually going to give you an overly optimistic indication of true group size. If you check the hole on the paper you'll usually see that the hole is actually less than the caliber. I suppose the paper stretch's a bit and the hole ends up being a bit less than the caliber diameter. As an example checking a recent target shot with 168 SMK .308 FGMM the paper hole for one round measures .2813 not .308. This isn't really all that important but if you were in a bench rest competition that's how it would be done. This makes true 1/2 MOA or better rifles/shooters/ammo all the more rare.

This is my SS Classic 270Win Fwt @ 600yds over my pack with a rear sandbag. The rifle is essentially stock as it's bedded into a Winlight McMillan. Wind was light and variable. The knife is 3.875" closed. Day-in Day-out, I don't shoot this well and conditions don't often allow for it, at least not from me. Forgive if this question has been asked but do folks consider a .5" rifle @ 100yds to be a 1/2 MOA rifle?

The last 4 shots in the box....kind of glad that was all I had left....I've blown a lot of great 4 shot groups with the last one. I've never bested this one at 200 meters. 2 shots on a coyote's shoulder at 600 meters. 6XC Surgeon, 105gr scenar.
Luck....is the residue of design...
