What happens when you have a blued action bead blasted? Does it end up like a matt finish?

I assume you mean bead blasting before bluing. If so, yes, you get a matte finish. I did this on a Win model 12 that was a bit too far gone to polish without losing the lettering. Came out with a really nice low glare finish after bluing.

I was thinking more of just knocking the shine down and not going to bare metal.

Probably easier to have it cerakoted.

You're not gonna be happy trying to blast it while it's blued, and expect to just keep it that way.

Bead blast followed by another trip through the bluing tanks, or as you say, pick a "coating" like Ceracoat.

If it's still in good shape, I'd be tempted to leave it as-is. If it "needs" refinished, I'd opt for a light beadblasting followed by bluing. I still haven't warmed up to the coatings yet.

Remove blue, bead blast, hit with a wire brush wheel, and then blue does a nice job too.

As per usual, you're a day late and a dollar short. grin

It was actually a VLS in 260. I just sprayed in with semi-gloss Krylon and it looked passable.

I peddled it earlier this year.
