Have to have over 65,000 people in your county to make the list.

696 here in El paso CO ,CO, still too high. The politicians will always want more.Three good propositions on the ballot next month lower them even more.

They shot themselves in the foot when they did away with the homestead act tax cut for seniors here. Then theyd oubled the registration fee for vehicles and pullde an equal amount of money out of the road and bridge fund ,so there was zero increase in funds for those items. Folks here have had enough

Maybe most of the state (area-wise) has, but you've still got Denver in Colorado, right?

Don't count on getting much changed as long as more and more liberals keep moving there (as well as a few other pockets around your state).

Yeeah.... Marathon Co. Was 104. That's where we moved FROM, thankfully. Anoka Co. was pretty far down the list.

Yes. again, one of the, if not THE highest in the country. I live in Monroe Co. too. we own 78 acres, 40 of which is designated NYS wetlands (read - undevelopable, EVER) and my yearly State, local and school tax is right around $7K a year on a house assessed at $175K 4 years ago.

Yeah - we are getting screwed. That's part of why we are one of only 4 states to loose population last year. It would be much worse too if it wasn't for the illegals and welfare whores that back fill the working taxpayers that are all leaving. cry

For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

Is income in your area relatively high?

We're number 238 on the list but that should be changing soon since they want to raise our property taxes.........again. We need to do away with the property tax and go to a sales tax so everyone pitches in for city services.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Feels a little good not to be at the very top of the list. Though being ranked 9th is nothing to cheer about. Really sad part is that most people don't even realize how bad they are getting screwed.

That list doesn't tell the complete story. When you include our city property tax rate the bill is double what is listed for the county. We also have State Income Tax and 9.2% sales tax. Compared to the #1 ranked "average", I actually pay more. mad

My county doesn't have enough people in it to rank on the list. On my actual house and 4 acres (it's taxed separeately from the rest of the land) I pay around $800/year on a house valued at $150,000. The rest of the land I pay just under $3/acre on land that produces income on timber and gas/oil royalties/production.
