I was at the range yesterday, zeroing a scope I got off the Classifieds this summer in a horse trade..

I just put a new stainless barrel on a Model 70 Short Action, in a Hogue Rubber Stock... the barrel is a heavy magnum contoured, chambered in 260 Rem..

Got the scope zeroed..had 4 shots left... so put the part where the bottom crosshair goes from thick to thin on the steel ram at 500 yds and took a shot to just see how close it would be hitting...all 4 shots returned the distinctive metal "CLANG"..

I could also see the hits with the scope set on 4 power...

although it was not my intention, the set up looks exactly like Ruger's "Tactical" set up in 243... except mine has a 24 inch barrel ( I think they use a 22 inch)..

the load was out of the Sierra Manual, backed off a bit..

40 grains of IMR 4895 ( yeah NO 4350 guys)...120 grain Sierra Match king, Federal LR primer.. in Win 308 cases necked down to 260 Rem..

I am jealous! I have not been out to my range much this season at all. I wish I had been though as I have a few new toys that I wanted to try out. Sounds like a great day at the range.

waiting for the few "First Season Rambos" to get out of that hunting area Marty...

was thinking of going out opening morning.. but there were about 5 idiots there at the turn out with rifles, that I didn't feel safe being anywhere near where they were going to be..

I'll be out over there this weekend... Blaine said he may come down...depending on his work schedule..

he showed me a picture of a large buck someone got up by Roseburg on opening day.. it was pretty darn impressive.. immense rack..

Seafire,

I picked myself up another 260rem the other day. One of those Remington classic models released a couple of years back that some guy never went through with the deal on.

I am dying to get my new scope on it and see how it goes. Interesting you don't use 4350, i have typically used 4831sc in the past with good results.

I guess I'll just see what this one wants to be fed.
