I know what an upside down flag means when a vessel flies it, B...... ,..and that's all you *need* to know to understand the context.

I'm just mulling over someone being surprised by a recruiter, an NCO who doesn't want to be a salesman, but is stuck doing it, has a quota and incredible pressure, and has to sell the military to the obese and unmotivated... might tend to gloss over certain aspects of the armed forces that tend not to be strong marketing points, while upselling the sales points... Not so much surprised, actually. If you'd asked me to predict how it would go, I would have guessed something very similar. Although I would never have guessed he'd include the part about joining for the pleasure of shooting people in the face. That part I admit to being surprised over.

TRH is a whiny embarrassment to adults and unlike the Army recruiter today, a sad example for young, empty minds.

Hawkeye,
I get the Obamacare thing, but I don't get the flag thing. When I think of your flag, I think of all the people who fought and died, who lost family and friends, who weathered harships beyond compare for the right to live under that flag, the freedom to fly that flag, to raise it in peace and in some instances in hope of peace to come.
That flag represents the people and the foundation that America was built on. Mr Obama works everyday to tear down that foundation, to seek out and destroy the people and the spirit that makes them continue, that makes them continue to believe in America, the America that was, the America they believe that they can be again.
By flying that flag upside down you discredit and dishonour all true Americans that came before you in your great country, and all those who fought and do fight daily in the name of America and the American Flag.
I do spend a lot of time in the US, Alabama to be exact (US Military family), outside the house there flies an American Flag, I dare one person to come and turn it upside down, and though I am Canadian I will kick their asses from here to hell, no one will bring dishonour or discredit in my presence to those I have named above.
You see in the end even if you don't really realize it, your statement by turning that flag upside down speaks louder than you know, you see, you feed those who seek to destroy the spirit and the people of America. It is a symbol that you too have have turned your back.
Anyways, nuff said, and after all, what do I know, I am only a frozen Canadian that cares about the people and the spirit of America.
Lynn Lynn, that's an unfortunate misunderstanding, and way too common even among Americans who should know better. Before I made that my avatar, I had no idea how few Americans understood the significance of the distress flag. This might help: Click Here You do realize Hawk that most on the Fire are quite happy with what Obama is doing despite all the protest to the contrary. You can take the people out of socialism but you can't take the socialism out of people.

Lets see,
second hand heresay from TRH on life in the military.
yeah, I'm all ears.
Could you preface all your discussions about the U.S. Military with your statement where they are trained psychopaths, so everyone can know your full stance, not just about policy, but about the troops as well.
Come on, you can do it...

That doesn't stop demagogues like SteveNo, however, from happily taking advantage of people's ignorance on the subject in order to score points against those he perceives as his enemies pointing it out when I'm just making stuff up or quoting bullshit sites as references Is Wednesday your day to play stupid? You know better. http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy_hr.asp?id=190Upside down – An upside-down flag is considered a distress signal.Steve knows better he is just a third tier member of the Ruling Welfare Class and a Republican supporter of Obama.

You lost me bro..... Chris (TRH) said that U.S. Soldiers are trained psychopaths, trained to ignore basic human decency. I got the quote and thread somewhere, but it makes my vomit when I see it. I'll find it if you really want to see it.

He has no more respect for our troops than he does for our flag....he does love this attention however.

We exist to kill people and break things in the pursuit of the National Interest, we have no other function", seemed to always get a round of YEAH! from my students when I briefed them on opening day. We have enough of a hard time with the pussification of the American male Hawk and if that guy's saying those things, GOOD FOR HIM. jorge

I was in the Army National Guard, an Army National Guard recruiter, and I got nobody to join because I told the truth.
The only way to get 90% of the recruits is to lie through your teeth as a recruiter.
Jorge is right, if you want recruits without lying bring back the draft and enlist slaves.

I have said this before and will say it again, I am all for the draft, no deferments though, everyone gets in the lottery.........EVERYONE! I feel that people learn more about the country and themselves when service has been done to your country. If they can't do their time without doing something stupid, gee, ya get a nice black mark. And the draft covers more than the Military, as there are some like TRH and a few others that really couldn't handle the demands. Peace Corps is great, or 2 years Mandatory public service, and it should also be tied to your ability to vote, bet hey tha'ts my thoughts, YMMV. Les
