I might be on the way to a really good deal... Just wondering if I'll get the bone in the last few minutes of the auction... Those last minute snipers will steal your deal in a heartbeat, Bart. Hope you have enough in reserve to outbid them and still get a good deal.

a NIB Dan Wesson 6" .357 revolver, tool, original paperwork for $200. When the guy sent it to my FFL, he included two new barrels (4" and 2 1/2") his father just happened to buy and not use either. Absolute joy to shoot- accurate too.

I bought a Valmet 412, new in a hard case with three barrel sets- .30-06 O/U, .30-06/12 Ga O/U, and 12 Ga O/U, with factory scope mount, for $2300. Cost of a new 512, which is Italian made vice Finnish, is $1000, and each barrel set is close to $800 and has to be fitted. I thought it was a great deal.

Just bought a 4 inch S&W model 19-6 with Crimson Trace grips for $315. I figured $300 for the grips and $15 for the Smith. OK, so the grips are only $299, so the Smith was actually $16.

Never used Gunbroker...but best deal ever. Retired gent walks into gunsmith's shop I used to work in, wants to sell all his loading equipment and handguns. Boss buys the reloading equipment, I buy the handguns: Ruger MKII .22LR Target, S&W 686 6" .357, Ruger P85(?) 9mm....$300 CAD for all three. Best deal I've ever made.

Got burned on GB once when buying a barrel; never been back. I want to see and handle the item before I buy.
Seller expectations are also a big issue. On GB, there have (are) been several overpriced guns that just keep sitting and being relisted. For example:
1) A Swedish 6.5x55 project gun (Ramline stock, M70 type safety, military barrel) that the guy keeps posting for $500 and won't consider less.
2) A Mauser 98 (sporterized with a nice stock, iron sights, military barrel, rust under bolt handle) originally listed for $500 and now at $420.
3) A Colt Light Rifle that the guy originally wanted $975 ("WOW!! Where will it's price go? All Colts increase in value so don't be bashful, even if you think you are overpaying, next year it will be a bargain. Buy it now and be happy." - his quote) and now wants $925. Other Colt Light Rifles on the same list are going for $700-750.
All of the above listings have been on the site repeatedly for 6 months or so.

I've had some good deals on GB. Probably my best deal was a pair of Ruger Single Six revolvers in 32 H&R Mag that I bought for my daughter to use in cowboy action matches. NIB, consecutive serial numbers, five hundred plus shipping for the pair.
I've bid on a lot of guns on GB, and a lot of times I've been outbid, but that's because I set a hard ceiling on any gun I buy there, no matter how bad a case of gottahaveititis I have for the particular item.

Old Sako L591 in .243 with a Ziess Davari 3-9 scope for $800. I sold the scope for $500 if my memory serves me correctly. The rifle shoots sub MOA easily. Ken
