I've noticed that my final loads for basically everything I shoot ends up giving me a purple color background on my Quickload charts for chamber pressure. Is this normal? Should I be down lower into the yellow range? I generally just watch for pressure signs like flat primers or sticky extraction but you can't always gauge pressure by visual indicators.

For most modern arms with smokeless rifle calibers the pressure signs like sticky extraction or extractor marks begins high in the red area above 60.000 p.s.i.'s. The magenta or "purple" area marks the border range for full work loads just below Maximum Average Pressure (MAP)

Thanks for the info, I was curious. Is it safe to say any load that is below the "yellow" area is an under powered load and would be likely to be unsafe?
