I just bought a '71 99a and am reluctantly considering mounting a scope(eyes are shot).I've been unable to find base options other than 2 piece weaver style or 1 piece redfield style bases.Did Weaver once make the steel grand slam style bases for 99's? Do any of you guys have a redfield style base w/ rear integral peep or know a part # for it?Were there ever 2 piece redfield style bases made?Were Leupold QRW bases ever available for 99's.THANKS!

Doubt if Weaver made the GS mounts for the 99. Redfield did make 2 piece mounts and they show up on ebay now and then. Your best bet is to keep an eye on ebay; everything shows up there eventually.

jrl: dug back far enought to find Redfield Item#511117, 1-piece,with peep.& #512007 ,2 piece with peep, also listed #518005,1 pice steel,swingover..Not sure this help much so since these last made.. But I bought the one piece with peep,for Winchester88/100,and one for Rem 760.within the last two weeks from one of the auctions sites..Good luck, try gunshows ,also..The two on my 99s will go with the rifles,when I'm to far gone to care.. Leupold does make Quick release rings that fit on weaver style bases. I am considering such a setup for one of my rifles.
