This is good news for retired officers who wish to carry across state lines...The ammendment makes it easier to qualify and ends ammunition restrictions (ie, no hollow point states). HR218/S 1132 Dan

I guess this is a good thing.....but why shouldn't it apply to ALL sane, non-felon citizens of this country.

I guess this is a good thing.....but why shouldn't it apply to ALL sane, non-felon citizens of this country. Even though I qualify under HR218 I agree with you. The second Amendment should be the only "qualification" as far as I am concerned.

If I am reading this correctly, that amendment eliminates the requirement that the person have non-forfeitable pension benefits. This would expand coverage to include people who served more than 10 years but who did not retire out from an agency. It also looks like it literally applies to commissioned reserves who meet the 10 year service requirement. If anyone else has the time or inclination to double check this, the original law is at 18 U.S.C.A. 926(B) and (C), and the amendment is at PL 111-272.
